The Unlike Portrait Awards is a photo competition for talented portrait photographers. On this page you will find an overview of the frequently asked questions about the UPA. If you have any further questions, please let us know (email@example.com)
Organizing the Unlike Portrait Awards is not possible without funding. Participation in our competition costs €25,00 (amateurs) and €50,00 (professionals) for up to three images. Your registration is final when we have received your payment.
The Unlike Portrait Awards is open to all professional and amateur photographers with a minimum age of 18. Minors (persons under the age of 18) are not eligible to use the website unsupervised and we ask minors do not register.
You can only participate in the UPA by filling in the registration form on our website between 01/12/20 and 30/11/21.
The portraits are submitted in JPG format with a minimum of 1000 pixels on the long side and a maximum file size of 4MB.
In the initial (1) round all portraits of every category will be judged by our editorial jury panel and awarded a maximum of 50 points for technique (10), expression (10), lighting (10), composition (10) and originality (10). The portraits with a total score of 35 points or higher will be shortlisted for the UPA semi-finals (second round). In the second round, the shortlisted portraits will be judged again, the portraits of every category with a total score of 40 points or higher will be shortlisted for the finals of the UPA (third and final round). In the third round the shortlisted portraits will be judged by our jury committee, individually and as a group.

Post-processing is allowed, but placing a watermark, signature or text is not. Image merging is only allowed in the newborn photography category.
Every year’s we present 24 awards in 8 different categories. Our concrete awards are created by world-renowned artist and designer Pavel Yurkov. The Lubitel 166 is an analogue masterpiece and stands for simplicity and unlimited creative possibilities.
